Task 1 Management and Reporting to European Commission

General management and coordination of the project, administrative, technical and financial follow-up, quality control and evaluation, and communication with the EC.

  • Action A1.1 Organizational set-up of the project and project management.
  • Action A1.2 Internal monitoring and evaluation of the Project
Deliverable
Project’s Monitoring and Evaluation System: Document that details the monitoring and evaluation system that will include the quality and execution norms of the project, to be used by the partners
1st progress report: Report on the state of progress of the project for the first execution period
2nd progress report:  Report on the state of progress of the project for the second execution period
Final progress report:  Final report containing all the results and achievements of the project
Minutes of the coordination meetings: Minutes from the six coordination meetings
External Audit Report: External audit by accredited organism

Task 2. Reviewing key knowledge, tools and practices to integrate large fire planning into territory planning

This task consists of identifying the best knowledge available from within the wildfire prevention and response community, as well as the knowledge gaps and the requirement for new tools and methodologies. It concludes with the identification of areas to be developed and how to develop them, in terms of knowledge transfer tools for key relevant contexts (e.g. fire prevention, risk identification, etc).
Deliverable
Report on review and evaluation of knowledge: Report with the results from the review/state of the art of knowledge in the different fields tackled in actions A.2.1
Report on challenge for wild fire risk integration into land planning: Report with the results of activity A.2.2
Proceedings of the international workshop on wildfire risk assessment and land planning: Edition of the presentations and of the conclusions of the workshop

Task 3. Building capacity on anticipatory fire risk assessment for land and fire planers

This task consists of evaluating, adjusting, and contrasting some applications that may be adequately developed for and adapted to local contexts, but undoubtedly need to be adapted to the European context. This task will involve a range of activities, including pilot trials, specific studies completing our vision, etc.
Deliverable
Protocol for testing fire spread models: Methodological protocol developed during action A.3.1.
Training activities on the use of crow fire hazard charts: Training activities for end-users on the application of crown fire hazard charts in the field. This corresponds to action A.3.1.
Protocol for ignition risk assessment: Methodological protocol developed during action A.3.1.
Specific tools for training fire and landscape planners in the use of fire-spread simulation models
Protocol for a cost-effective assessment on fuel treatments at landscape level:Methodological protocol developed during action A.3.1.
Questionnaires and interviews in social perception of fire risk: Report containing the results from the questionnaires and interviews with stakeholders, implemented during action A.3.1.
Methodology for incorporating large FIRE risk into landscape management decision making: Methodological protocol developed during action A.3.2.
Training standards in wildfire risk planning: Training contents developed during action A.3.3.

Task 4. Implementation of transfer activities

This task consists in the efficient transfer of the project’s activities (methodologies, products, results, etc.) and in the practical development of the applications. It builds upon the two previous tasks and will lead to the production of guidelines, a web platform, etc.
Deliverable
Common Characterization Framework on communication for  transferring spatial wildfire planning: Result from the development of action A.4.1, and that will be edited in the Book of Guidelines from action A.5.2.
Common Characterization Framework on wildfire vulnerability assessment and reduction at landscape level: Result from the development of activity A.4.2 and that will be edited in the Book of Guidelines from action A.5.2.
Expert database: Expert Database included in the participatory platform of land and fire planners.
Knowledge-based platform: Development of the platform with the organization of the topics and information available.
Best-cases database: Best-cases database developed during action A.4.4.

Task 5. Information, dissemination and capitalization actions

This task includes actions related with the project results information and dissemination.
Deliverable
Communication and dissemination plan: Contains the communications actions foreseen, the processes to be followed and the norms to be respected to elaborate the communication materials.
Project Website: Contains the basic information on the project, results from the reports, and acts has an on-line support for the knowledge-based platform.
Book of Guidelines: On-line edition of the guidelines generated by activities A.4.1 and A.4.2.
Articles and Newsletters: Compilation of published articles, press releases, newsletters, etc., related to the development and results of the project.
Informative material: Basic information material to disseminate project’s objectives, activities and expected results (triptychs, roll-ups and posters).
Layman’s report: Synthetic divulgation report that will offer a general overview of the progress and will summarize the results of the project.
